A good opportunity to photograph a shiny 66 732. Unfortunatley, not only was it towing some old junk it came down the fast as as well, so not the best photo in the world.

Then off to Ruscombe at dinner time for double double headers, and some jumbled up HST sets :o)

Despite the set being brought up to London last night, yesterday's down Riviera was an HST, so the stock merrily went back to Cornwall this afternoon.

A mighty gaggle of freights at lunch time then the ECS from a failed sleeper in the evening.

After an absence of about a month, the Chichester Stone has returned, albeit on slightly amended timings, so off to Bedhampton it was...!

I then returned after lunch for the VSOE from Brighton, which - despite running 25 minutes late - was bang into sun, doh!

No, not a freak weather phenomenon, but a shiny teapot! A conviently placed water stop gave me two opportunities to photograph Tornado on a Father's Day jolly around Hampshire.

These photos are more for amusement than their photographic merit! My plans for a shot of the return Holybourne tanks in the late evening as we approach the Summer Solstice were somewhat scuppered by full cloud and rain...!

Having recieved information that DB Schenker 59 206 was on the Fareham stone I couldn't resist a trip to Botley, with the added bonus of the southbound Fratton Intermodal!

A half-term holiday visit to the Thames Valley produced a nice haul of freights. Including both of the newly liveried DB Schenker locos :o)

Dropped in on the SWML on the way home for a photo of the shiny new teapot "Tornado" :o)

With school still closed due to "snow", I took the opportunity to get a shot of the new Fratton - Eastleigh intermodal trip working.

HST to Pompey! The ECS for this weeks footy special (this time for Swansea fans) made it with just enough light for a photograph...count the grains!

First trip out for the new year was to Bedhampton for some departmentals, as well as diversions off SWML due to engineering works.

Teapot! Went to Gosden Green for Bittern this morning in the winter sun. Turned up either 30 minutes or 60 minutes late depending which timings you looked at....! :-P

First free morning for a few weeks, so a trip to Bedhampton to enjoy the September sunshine. Produce a Yellow Monster, the tanks and the stone. :o)

A 33 to Southall, a jumbo stone train and two WCML diversions - not bad for an hour and half on a gloomy August afternoon!

Not one photo of 59 001 today...but TWO! Rather unusually it worked up on A09 and returned on C77 :o)

A busy hour and a half at Ruscombe this afternoon. Passenger trains were experiencing the FGW factor with not a lot until 2.15 and then everything comming at once. The origins of photographed HSTs will therefore remain a mystery for all eternity!

We were going to go coaling again, but on account of some Environmentalists hijacking a train at Drax, there weren't any so we went to the land of Iron and Steel instead. (and got some 153s...!)

The Stobart Pullman was doing a Victoria - Victoria round trip via Fareham - out via Basingstoke and back via Guildford.

Due to various engineering posessions, the Eastleigh - Hoo engineers were diverted via Swindon and the GWML. There was also an enterprise diverted off the WCML onto the Chiltern which then got diverted onto the GWML!

Out for a phot of the Western returning to home terratory from its jolly to Scotland including a bonus departmental and a light 66 :o)

A day on the Island, as part of my Applied Coastal Geomorphology module.

My late Grandfather - Leslie A. Wroot - was a keen railway photographer, but when he died in the 1970s only a small selection of his glass slides was kept.

Having finally managed to capture them electronically, I'm starting to put them on here (only 3 to start with).

The captions are all the information that is on the originals, any help with dates, locations etc, is much appreciated. He lived in St. Albans, so I assume most of them are from the surrounding area.

Me and my housemate Dan got bored of writing essays and reading dull journals, so we got the train to Rowlands Castle and went for a walk! Found a nice little church hiding in the hills too :o)
